Abstract
The randomness of ships to port is an important research question in the wharf operation organization. Imbalance of the ships to the port aggravates the difficulties of unload work, causes the wharf handling operation efficiency to be low, and affects the wharf throughput capacity. Therefore, researching the randomness of ships to port has the vital practical advantage. The measured data of industrial port has been analyzed and empirical frequency distribution graph has been drawn in this paper. Based on what has been mentioned above, second-order Erlang distribution obedience is supposed. Then chi-square test has been carried out and the result showed that the rule of ships to the port on industrial port obeys second-order Erlang distribution.
