Abstract
An undulatory bending of the separate material layers are observed in a different of deformation ways. The nonlinear-elastic solitons and the regular structures near the instability threshold of the longitudinally compressed shell are predicted and analytically described. These solitons are the stress concentrators and at the same time the precursors of the subsequent plastic flow of the material, carrying information about geometry and the stress-state of the material. The conditions of the formation of the soliton-like excitations and the diamond shaped structures are found
