Abstract :
The influence of iron loss cannot be neglected if high-speed and precision torque control of an AC motor is required. This paper presents the vector control of a synchronous reluctance motor including iron loss. The iron loss is introduced as an equivalent iron loss resistance in the voltage equation on the assumption that the loss is produced in equivalent eddy current windings on the d-q axis. The effect of iron loss can be represented with an equivalent iron loss resistance in series with the exciting inductance, respectively. The d-q axis interfere with each other through the equivalent iron loss resistance. To achieve vector control, the d-q axis is decoupled by a nonlinear control input. As a result, the electromagnetic torque control scheme is equal to that of a DC machine and the torque control is simplified.<>
