Abstract :
Summary form only given. In this paper, we introduce a cusp cross-section pinch (CCSP) as an example of geometrical stabilization, and give the description of constructed device. The CCSP device is, consisted of two sheet Z-pinch devices arranged face to face. Each sheet Z-pinch device is like a coaxial gun, which is elongated to one direction. The plasma sheets are accelerated toward the anode tips in both sheet Z-pinch devices. When the plasma sheets arrived simultaneously at the anode tips, the plasma column with cusp cross-section is formed and enclosed by four hyperbolic current surfaces. The plasma is expected to be uniform along the central axis, and not to be accompanied with instabilities. The preliminary results of these experiments and various applications of the CCSP are given in the paper.
