Abstract
Decision feedback equalizers (DFEs) for time-varying frequency-selective channels are proposed. The channel estimator explicitly models the time variation of the channel taps via polynomials and the feedforward/feedback filter (FFF/FBF) taps of the DFE are computed from the time-varying channel impulse response estimate. In fast fading channels, as the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) increases, the proposed DFE structure outperforms the per-survivor processing (PSP) based MLSD receiver which employs the least mean squares (LMS) algorithm for channel estimation
