Abstract
The design of a resonant DC link inverter without a clamp circuit has been a long standing problem; namely, when the inverter input current decreases due to the voltage vector change, a high peak voltage is generated in the DC link, and the peak current which flows in the freewheel diode of the inverter increases. In this paper, a novel control method which enables the resonant DC link inverter to suppress the high peak voltage is proposed. Experiments and simulations show that these methods can suppress the high peak voltage generation associated with induction motor drives.<>
