Abstract
The possibility to estimate subsurface structures parameters has been studied. The model describing the scattering from subsurface heterogeneities such as geological structures and wet layers has been developed. Modifications of a damped exponential model and multi-dimensional signal processing method have been applied for detecting dielectric permittivity change. Utilizing numerical simulations, a sensitivity analysis is performed to investigate the features of scattered pattern. The dependence of the received signal on the properties of an inhomogeneous and homogeneous media, upper and buried rough surfaces has been studied. It has been found that the method is to be very sensitive to the change of the dielectric permittivity and can be used as a new tool to map subsurface wet layers and geological interfaces
