Abstract

Combing ATM technology with LAN is one of the methods to improve network performance and enhance network capability by providing QoS in the network service. The ATM Forum´s LAN emulation efficiently combines the LAN service with ATM transport technology. The LE ARP (address resolution protocol) cache is maintained by the entities of LAN emulation. This paper looks into the LE ARP cache and its usage. This paper proposes a simple and efficient LE ARP cache structure and implementation method using both software and hardware methodology
