  • Abstract
Managing distribution networks with a large number of distributed generators (DGs) is a challenging task for distributed network operators (DNOs). The proper operation of active network management requires more advanced underlying Information and Communication Technology (ICT) systems where the existing provision could not meet the necessary performance requirements due to the constraints in structure and communication capability. This paper addresses this issue and presents ICT system proposals for two example distribution grids with distinct structures (meshed and radial) and different voltage levels (33kV and 11kV), respectively. This study points out the limitations of existing communication provision and evaluates the ICT proposals for a range of scenarios and configurations.
