Abstract
Numerical simulations of large periodic structures, such as metamaterials or phased arrays, can be excessively time consuming because of the large number of unknowns involved. This paper presents a technique based on a MoM simulation code and the array scanning method which allows to compute efficiently induced currents in periodic structures excited by a single source. Moreover, by combining this approach with windowing and with finite-by-infinite array simulations, we show that it is possible to obtain accurate radiation patterns for any element of the finite structure. The accuracy of the method is illustrated for the case of large finite arrays made of dipoles
