Abstract :
In continuous 10-min recordings of lead II electrocardiogram (ECG) signals of two quiet seated subjects, variations of the ECG waveforms as a function of R-R interval and as a function of time sinc breath (breath interval) were examined. It was found that waveform measures such as QRS area and Q-R slope vary significantly as a function of breath interval. The R-T interval did not vary significantly with breath interval but did vary with R-R interval. The variation is less pronounced in quiet subjects than that which would be predicted from the Bazett equation for normalization of Q-T intervals by R-R intervals in general clinical use
