Abstract :
In this paper, grounding resistance is measured using grid and rods near Gadong substation of Brunei Darussalam. The soil resistivity is measured near the testing site and the fall-of-potential method is used to measure the grounding resistance. The minimum value of the grounding resistance for grid with four rods is found to be 7.08Ω. The CYME GRD software is used to find the simulation results in terms of soil resistivity, grounding resistance, touch potential and step potential for the burial depth of 1.5m. The value of the simulation grounding resistance is found to be 6.51Ω which is close to the measured grounding resistance. An empirical relationship between the grounding resistance and distance between grid and current probe is proposed.
