Abstract :
There are totally 163 colleges and universities in Taiwan, 90% of them have established their campus WLAN environment and 61% of them have joined the cross-campus WLAN roaming environment under the support of the National Science Council (NSC). This paper describes how we have established such a WLAN roaming environment in Taiwan. Relying on this RADIUS based WLAN roaming environment, a campus WLAN user in Taiwan can enjoy WLAN roaming service via Web portal or 802.11x based AAA. Newly developed applications such as voice/video service, or campus WiMAX networks can also be tested over this environment. This paper will also introduce our research on how the campus wireless network security can be improved.
