Abstract :
Engineering requires vast amount of highly related information about products, production environments, application environments, etc. at development, production, application, and recycling of products in advanced computer systems. During lifecycle of product, engineers and other humans have influence on product information according to their role within a project team or outside of it. Short innovation cycles, complex mechatronical products, high distances, and high number of product variants often make really efficient contribution of engineers impossible at the application of large product models. In order to avoid this situation, product model must work in the absence of the engineers who developed them. In other words, product model must represent intent of more or less engineers. Current product models have not this capability. The authors recognized the related task as establishment a new product model that organizes background of model object definitions. According to their proposal, this model completes the currently prevailing information based product models where engineering objects are described by their related attributes. In this paper, a method is introduced that use design intent based engineering objectives and context representations at decision on engineering objects and their attributes in information based product model.
