Abstract :
This work presents a simple and effective means of evaluating production lines and laboratory spaces for EMI (electromagnetic interference) risks. Antennas were fabricated from magnetic head-gimbal assemblies (HGAs) by removing the slider and connecting a 50 /spl Omega/ coaxial cable terminated in the 50 /spl Omega/ input impedance of a 1 GHz oscilloscope. EMI sensitivity levels for heads are presented, and laboratory and production areas have been purged of some EMI risks.
