  • Abstract
This work presents firstly a description of simulation models for use in PowerFactoryTM and ATP programs for transient stability studies of power systems with wind turbines. Based on these models, simulation modules for both platforms were developed, the objective is to allow an evaluation comparing a digital simulator of transients with free distribution, ATP, with a reference program internationally recognized, PowerFactory. At the end, the results obtained by those platforms are compared. For the simulation it is used a real system which it will be introduced a wind farm. Two different technologies of wind turbines were implemented: doubly-fed induction generator and synchronous wind generator. It is described the implemented control strategies and models of turbine and converters and the stability of the wind turbine interconnected to grid is analyzed in many operational conditions
