Abstract :
Presents a tutorial discussion of the polynomial phase transform (PPT) and its application to estimating the parameters of complex signals with continuous phase and slowly varying amplitudes. The PPT-based algorithm provides suboptimal but computationally efficient estimates of the signal parameters. The performance of the algorithm on single-component signals is discussed in some detail. Preliminary results on estimating multicomponent signals are presently briefly. The PPT appears to be a practical approach to parametric modeling of a class of nonstationary signals.
