Abstract :
A new method is presented for person verification based on four fingertips of right hand. This paper attempts to reduce the amount of features to decrease size of the database and size of images to trim down the computational time. The image acquisition of this system is different than other hand geometry based biometric systems. The system requires only the upper half of the fingers´ image instead of image of full palm and fingers. The proposed system is suitable for capturing images by a digital camera or a normal scanner. The method has been tested on a medium size dataset of 100 images with promising results of 2% equal error rate (EER).
