Abstract
The aim of this paper is to discuss the use of the impulse waveforms included in the IEC 1083-2 standard in the validation of the software developed for the analysis and processing of the high-voltage (HV) impulse waveforms recorded in real tests. For that, it includes a summary of the limitations found, by the authors, in that standard and compares the waveform cases included in it with some actual waveforms that are difficult to analyse and process. In order to show, to the reader, processing refinements that are often needed, but not completely evaluated by the standard, the paper presents the results of the processing, based on the time-frequency analysis, of some really difficult cases
