Abstract :
The paper discusses the lightning impulse test of air core reactors concerning the influence of the earthing resistor. The results of lightning impulse tests done in a 421 μH air core reactor are presented and discussed regarding the failure detection. Suggestions for improving the insulation failure detection are given
