Abstract
This work validates a numeric model of a power transformer using the finite element analysis technique (FEA) for solving electromagnetic field problems in two dimensions (FLUX2D). The numeric model is used to simulate the behavior of magnetic core for various operation conditions. The FEA technique gives a general equation for the calculation of the magnetic potential in the transformer core. The electric and magnetic variables are calculated in the model by mathematical operators. The numeric model is validated comparing the results obtained during simulation process and transformer routine tests. The results obtained are very similar
