Abstract
The use of an adaptive forward error control coding scheme is investigated on Rayleigh fading channels typically encountered in mobile communications systems. A predictive algorithm is used to estimate the fading intensity on the channel and this estimate is used to predict the code parameters. It is found that the use of the proposed scheme leads to an improvement in both the bit error rate performance and the throughput of the system
