Abstract
Vowel articulation is investigated in comparison with an acoustic reference frame. The resonance frequencies of a lossless articulatory tube model are calculated and mapped to the reference frame. The limits of the articulatorily accessible vowel space are thus estimated, and compared to an analysis of human production of peripheral vowels
