    This study examines the effects of transformational and transactional leadership on team member´s performance in virtual teams. Trust in leader acts as an important mediator of the effects of transformational leadership on performance. Fifty-three, four-person teams participated in a laboratory study. Results showed the direct and indirect effects of transformational leadership and challenged the assumption about effects of transactional leadership in virtual teams.
