Abstract :
The authors propose that with the emergence of operational sensor Web systems, it will become increasingly important to be able to easily integrate new or updated algorithms and models of elements or processes within the sensor Web domain space allow system operators and analyst or intelligent software agents to easily or automatically adjust system capabilities or performance to quickly match the dynamic flow of a user´s operational needs and priorities. This paper examines the feasibility of enabling the generalized integration of heterogeneous algorithms and models as semantic sensor web assets. It presents the author´s on going prototype work, which includes the development of a model/simulation meta-model. The meta-model is used with a simplified seismic simulation and infrasound model in a notional service oriented architecture (SOA) based sensor network to create a semantically enabled sensor Web based intruder detection application. The paper concludes with the proposition that although there are many significant issues and concerns regarding generalized model/simulation integration, what is ultimately needed is a standard simulation markup language (SimML) supporting a set of standards for sensor Web model/simulation asset development and integration.
