Abstract :
At oil production facilities, presence of harmonic generation loads has been important and also, they will be in close future. In many cases, facilities will be near of local electrical network where the connection to this electrical supplier, may be technical and economically attractive. Some considerations must be taken into account to adapt the new electrical system to the electrical utility technical requirements. There are several methods recommended by specialized organizations as IEEE, in order to mitigate harmonic distortion. These methods are mentioned in this work and their use in this type of industrial facilities. These technical considerations involve economics aspects, that if are considered in project early stages (conceptual and basic engineering); can produce costs and execution time savings. At early stages of projects, can be carried out studies to determine what method, produce the minor impact in the initial equipment costs and produce savings, later, during facilities operation
