Abstract :
This paper describes an attempt to increase the success of component development and component-based development (CBD). It recognises the geographically distributed nature that software development increasingly takes and how this relates to CBD. The research synthesises recent work on component specification and implementation patterns, design patterns, and documentation patterns, which will be the basis for a future information model to be implemented using XML
