Abstract :
The problem of increased cost and space to deliver power through multiple voltage rails in a computing platform is outlined. The trend towards on-die voltage regulator integration that results in changes to platform voltage rail requirements and the opportunity to take advantage of this feature in the development of loosely regulated outputs will be explained. A novel Triple Output Fixed Ratio Converter (TOFRC) topology will be proposed as a possible solution. The steady state operation of the converter, its transient behavior will be explored. Results from an experimental prototype will be presented to demonstrate the feasibility of the converter.
