Abstract :
At the end of a century and the more of a millennium there always arises the question about new developments which will strongly influence life in the future. From our point of view microtechnology will be one of the outstanding technologies of the 21st century and will cause a lot of new developments. New products which necessarily contain microtechnical components will show this. This forecast is obvious if the recent developments in the field of microoptics, micromechanical engineering, microreaction technology and biochemical engineering are projected forward
