Abstract
The purpose of this research was to analyze the maintenance management of the energy transmission companies of the western part of the country. The research was based on the theories of Prando (1996), Katzenbavh (1996), Newbrough (1998), Romero (1996), Mosquera (1995), Koontz (2004), Duffuaa (2002) and Duran (2004). The type of research was classified as descriptive, its design is not experimental but rather of the field type. The study units were made up by means of a population census, conformed by ENELCO and ENELVEN companies. Moreover, the information subjects were selected to maintenance areas personnel. The used data gathering technique was observation by means of interviews, through a fixed alternative type answer questionnaire (4 answering alternatives), made up of 73 items. These were validated by 5 experts, and later the trustworthiness of the instrument was determined by Cronbach´s Alpha coefficient, obtaining as a result a trustworthiness of 0.9512
