Abstract :
A novel technique for generating and upconverting signals to the millimetre-wave band through phase-to-intensity modulation (PM-IM) conversion in chirped fibre gratings is presented. Experimental results at 28 GHz show an excellent phase noise performance (-87 dBc/Hz at 10 kHz) and BER <10-9 in QPSK optically upconverted transmissions
