Abstract :
We analyze the spectral characteristics of semiconductor lasers under strong optical injection, and show that widely separated multiple sidebands are generated if the laser is in the dynamically unstable regime. Using this, it may be possible to generate optical microwaves/MM-waves without any external RF-sources
