Abstract
In this paper, the frequently disconnected problem in VANETs is solved by a novel cell area design with decision points at cell borders. At decision points, a car gets local road information under inter-vehicle communication (IVC), otherwise roadside-to-vehicle communication (RVC). Moreover, in order to decrease the usage of RVC, we utilize a transfer estimation based on low level carrier sense with large carrier sense range (CSR). Simulation results confirm the reduction of RVC by applying low level carrier sense.
