  • Abstract
Fiber-optic magnetometers capable of achieving resolutions of 10/sup -11/ or 10/sup -12/ T are being developed. During initial tests, minimum detectable magnetic signals of <10/sup -10/ T have been demonstrated. These devices use optical-fiber-wound cylinders of magnetostrictive metallic glass in one arm of a Mach-Zehnder interferometer. Both single-axis and gradient magnetometers have been fabricated.<>
