Abstract
Soldering as metallurgical method of joining materials is an integral part of electronic technologies. Solderability is then a complex property of connected surfaces of solder joints, which includes three aspects: wettability, temperature requirements, and resistance to heat during soldering. Solderability testing determines the appropriateness of certain materials, fluxes, or solder alloys for industrial use. Solderability testing also provides knowledge of the test subjects as well as knowledge of the relationship between their parameters and characteristics, and experiences that lead to the definition of best practices and recommendations in this field. To the desirable use and mainly sharing of these knowledge and experiences the web-enable expert system is built. The paper deals with the life cycle of building a web-enable Solderability Testing Expert System (STES). It is focused especially on knowledge acquisition and rule definition.
