Abstract
Electronic commerce opens up the possibility for connected enterprises and business processes that are integrated across traditional enterprise boundaries, but this promise comes with a number of challenges. The Internet has led to a great increase in expectations for such integrated enterprises, as it has substantially reduced the investment required to electronically integrate companies. At the same time, the ease of generating Web content and the mantra of “Web speed” have masked the difficult work that precedes creating truly integrated enterprises. Eastman Kodak Company has utilized electronic commerce for over 15 years, starting with EDI and continuing through the Internet. Along this journey, we have learned many things about the challenges which must be overcome in creating effectively integrated enterprises. This paper shares both Kodak´s journey and the key lessons learned from the journey so far
