Abstract
Summary form only given. Portable difference-frequency IR-spectrometers consisting of an electronic module, an infrared module, and a spectroscopic or detection module have been set up for the mid-infared region around 4.7 /spl mu/m and 7.2 /spl mu/m. For the 4.7 /spl mu/m region single-mode diode lasers are used as pump sources. Applying type I noncritical phasematching in an AgGaS/sub 2/ crystal of dimensions 40/spl times/4/spl times/4 mm/sup 3/ as nonlinear medium a narrow bandwidth infrared light source with sufficient power for spectroscopic use has been constructed.
