Abstract :
Summary form only given. We have operated a degenerate optical parametric oscillator (DOPO) that employs a fiber Sagnac interferometer as a third order nonlinear parametric amplifier. As anticipated, the large bandwidth of the parametric amplifier results in a signal spectrum significantly broader than that of the pump. In future work, we hope to extend operation away from degeneracy, in order to achieve a fiber-based pulsed OPO that can be tuned across the 1550-nm communications band.
