Abstract
Summary form only given. There is much interest in fiber lasers as compact, inexpensive, and tunable sources. Only recently have they achieved the high powers suitable for efficient nonlinear interactions. We report the combination of a high-power Q-switched Er-doped fiber laser and highly nonlinear periodically poled lithium niobate (LiNbO/sub 3/) (PPLN); which results in the first, to our knowledge, fiber pumped singly resonant optical parametric oscillator (OPO).
