Abstract
It is typically difficult for innovators to find the opportunity to explore their ideas in large corporations due to management imposed constraints. Big business must, after all, achieve corporate objectives in a very competitive world arena. The most obvious solution might be for an innovator to simply start a new business. However, assuming such a new venture is successful in acquiring a reasonable amount of investment capital, high technology development is extraordinarily expensive and capital will most likely run out before a new technology can be proven. This paper describes an alternative that exists between large corporate resources and insufficient small business resources: an essential partnership of a new, high-tech, start-up company and a well-equipped, academic development and fabrication semiconductor facility. The partnership is between Advanced Vision Technologies, Inc. (AVT) and the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) located in Rochester, New York
