Abstract
In this paper, the wavelet lifting principle has been used in signal compression and de-noising. This is achieved through the optimal choice of the orthogonal basis and lifting parameters of a biorthogonal system, and designed to minimize either the entropy or the dynamic range of the coefficients of the wavelet packet decomposition of the signal to be compressed. Illustrative examples are given to verify the proposed methods.
