Abstract :
The paper presents a study regarding very high voltage overhead lines operating in asymmetrical conditions due to ground faults. The overvoltage factor is obtained by modeling the polyphase network with the mathematical apparatus of the theory of symmetrical components and with EMTP. For a single phase ground fault and reclosing on remanently charged line, a distinct influence is noted when modeling with and without consideration of the magnetization curve of the transformer, or considering corona discharge
