Abstract :
The author defines the distinctiveness of an utterance as the distance from a typical utterance. The use of this information has been found to allow speaker recognition to be performed with speaker-dependent accuracy. A significant performance difference that depends on the magnitude of the distinctiveness has been found both in speaker identification and in speaker verification
