Abstract
We present a new method for blind OFDM carrier-frequency off set (CFO) estimation in ISI channels. Like previous methods, this technique utilizes the signal correlation generated from the CP. However, some methods do not fully incorporate the effects of the channel and implicitly assume the it is either non-dispersive or is shorter than the cyclic-prefix length. The proposed method does not make either of these limiting assumptions, and attempts to minimize the CFO variance through a maximum-SNR-optimization problem that is solved with a maximum-ratio-combining solution of the N-lag received correlation statistics.
