From the chair

The 2011 Symposium on Piezoelectricity, Acoustic Waves, and Device Applications (SPAWDA 2011) was held at Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (SIAT, CAS), Shenzhen, Guangdong Province with enthusiastic participations of researchers, engineers, students, and business leaders all over China and preeminent scholars in this industry from China, Germany, and the United States. Once again, we had a great event with the ever increasing support from industry and academia through core groups working on materials, physical acoustics, product development, manufacturing, and applications of piezoelectric acoustic wave devices for frequency control and detection in China. The Symposium, as before, has been sponsored by the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (CSTAM), Acoustical Society of China (ASC), and the IEEE Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control Society (UFFC-S).
