Abstract
The role of the resource has become more and more important for the provision of multimedia services. However, today it is still difficult to supply multimedia services in a public network. The difficulty lies in resource selection, charging and service profile submission etc. The problem can be solved by deploying broadband intelligent network technology. The broadband intelligent network system is a new architecture which aims to create and implement new broadband multimedia services quickly, flexibly and cost-efficiently. The broadband intelligent peripheral (B-IP) is an important function entity of the intelligent network (IN), whose role is to provide a special resource with services. The B-IP makes the resource more intelligent and flexible. We firstly introduce B-IP´s definition and access mode. We also propose the design scenario of the B-IP based on the broadband multipoint control unit (MCU) independently. After that we give the performance analyses.
