Abstract :
This paper analyzes the time, lane and direction distribution characteristics of volume and speed, based on data survey, aimed at the section on urban arterial street near the school in Huhhot. The research results show that there is a peak traffic which begins school close time and continues 15 minutes at noon. Near the primary school, the main factors causing traffic congestion are parking on driveway, pedestrian crossing the street and non-motor vehicle occupying motor vehicle lane. Near the high school, the main factors are pedestrian crossing the street and non-motor vehicle occupying motor vehicle lane. Finally, the paper suggests that reasonably construct the flyovers and parking spaces, and improve sidewalks and non-motor vehicle lanes near the school. It is very significant to ease traffic congestion and enhance traffic efficiency by analyzing the traffic flow characteristics of section on urban arterial streets in different function regions and different times.
