Abstract
The intelligent transportation system (ITS) or the intelligent vehicle-highway system (IVHS) concept, as part of the US National Transportation Program, applies real-time data, live video, and wireless communication techniques to improve real-time traffic monitoring, provide integrated control, and support advanced control operations. This paper illustrates a prototype system, Remote Integrated Camera Operation System (RICOS), developed by the Integrated Transportation Management Center (ITMC), Texas Transportation Institute (TTI) and Texas A&M University System, to improve the system efficiency and operational safety
