Abstract :
Summary form only given. Using a tight-focusing three-mirror geometry we recently reported a considerable reduction in the pump power requirement of a self-mode-locked Cr/sup 3+/:LiSAF laser. We report here the operation of a low-loss femtosecond Cr/sup 4+/:YAG laser based around such a cavity configuration.
