  • Abstract
In a network computing environment, there is a difference in the performance and load of each machine. To let the system know the load distribution load and to make a balanced task schedule, a distributed workload information collecting system, PVM-LIC, based on parallel virtual machine (PVM) message passing mechanisms is designed. By expanding the message passing system of PVM with some messages and using message procedures to collect the computational node´s workload, we will not only make the PVM collect workload message transparently, but also gain the merits such as ease of design, high effectiveness, compatibility, scalability and portability.
